Roop Hans
63, of Bolivar, died Wednesday Dec. 26, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. in Mercy Medical Center at Canton after a brief illness. Born Jan. 10, 1949 in Bilaspur, India he was a son of the late Milkhiram and Droputti Hans. He attended Columbus Community College, Ohio State University and was currently enrolled at Kent State University. He was employed as a lab technician at various hospitals in Central Ohio. He attended both St. John United Church of Christ at Bolivar and The Way Christian Church at Mt. Eaton. Roop was a very talented muscian and vocalist and spoke seven languages. He also wrote and published two books of poetry.
He is survived by his wife the former, Doris Dean whom he married Dec. 26, 1975. Also surviving are a son, Dhiraj "D.J." (Erin) Hans of Dover; two grandchildren, Isaac John Lieser-Hans and Bethany Rain Hans; a brother, Ramesh Hans and two sisters, Dr. Satya Bharmota and Nirmala Batta. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ranjeet Hans.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. in St. John United Church of Christ at Bolivar with Rev. Jody Jones officiating. Viewing and visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the church prior to services. Following services a lunch and time of sharing will be held in the church social hall. The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
