Nellie C. Sterrenberg, 97, of Crescent City passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

Nellie was born August 26, 1916 in Fulda, MN, the daughter of John R. and Ina P. LeSage Clark and they preceded her in death along with four brothers and two sisters. She married Fred D. Sterrenberg on June 15, 1941 in Mankato, MN and he preceded her in death on Augut 28, 2000.
She is survived by two daughters, Diann (Chuck) Peabody of Crescent City and Carmie (Ted) Spenn of Watseka; four grandchildren, David (Jessica) Peabody of Seattle, WA, Andy (Kara) Peabody of Noblesville, IN, Jacob (Bethany) Spenn of Houston, TX and Jonathan (Amy) Spenn of Colorado Springs, CO; and eight great-grandchildren, Crosby, Kalianne, Annika & Alden Peabody and Rylin, Carson, Noah & Selah Spenn.
Mrs. Sterrenberg was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Crescent City. She was a one room school teacher for five years and City Clerk for the Village of Crescent City for nineteen years. Nellie enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking and reading. She was a true homemaker.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Chris Lentz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Crescent City.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Crescent City, Iroquois Resident Home Activity Fund or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
