Irene M. Schuette, 99, of Crescent City and formerly of Woodworth passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Irene was born May 23, 1914 in Ash Grove Twp., the daughter of Dietrich and Marie Martens Hopman.  She married Alfred B. Schuette on October 13, 1940 in Woodworth and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1994.
She is survived by one daughter, Inez Hand of Milford; four granddaughters, Sharlene Hand of Fisher, Sarah Hand of Milford, Manda Mosiou of Granville, MI and Rachel Hand of Milford; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Elvin Schuette of Gilman.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two half-brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law.
Mrs. Schuette was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodworth.  She wrote the Woodworth News for the Cissna Park News, Milford Herald and Watseka Times for nearly 80 years.  Irene was a seamstress for many years and an avid quilter having made quilts annually for Prairieview Lutheran Home for over 20 years.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodworth.  Rev. Benjamin Meyer will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodworth and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Radio Ministry or for the Family's Wishes.
