Margaret Rose Wereszczak 1930 - 2019
BEVERLY HILLS, FL - Margaret Rose Wereszczak, age 88, passed away while under the care of hospice at her home on March 1, 2019.
Margaret was born on November 3, 1930, in Gloucester, England, to the late Charles and Harriet Powell. On July 12, 1975, she married Alek Wereszczak, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Margaret and Alek resided in Herkimer and were Florida "snowbirds" that had called Citrus County their winter home for over 20 years. She was a founding member of the St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness, FL where she also sang in the choir. Margaret was also a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Herkimer. Prior to retirement, she was a piano teacher for many years and was excellent at knitting. She especially loved making beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren.
While residing in New York, she had been a volunteer at the Folts Home for many years. Margaret was a wonderful cook that made delicious cookies and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband, Alek, those left to mourn Margaret's passing include her son, Peter Kaszycki and his wife, Mary Anne, of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Grace Kaszycki, of Brookfield, CT; daughter-in-law, Tammy Pashley, of Mohawk; niece, Lizabeth Wolfe and husband, Allen, of Rockledge, FL; step-children, Andrew Wereszczak and his wife, Leslie, of Oak Ridge, TN, Sharon Marosek, of Rimrock, AZ, Janice Wereszczak and her husband, David, of Chapel Hill, NC, Diane Bortle and her husband, Walter, of Cochranville, PA; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Kaszycki, in 1984 and John Kaszycki, in 2008; and siblings, Charles, Fred, Eric, Doreen, Vera and Evelyn.
Funeral of the Divine Liturgy will be offered on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness, FL with Fr. Sergious Gerken, Celebrant. Friends may call at the church, beginning at 10:00 a.m., until the hour of service. Additional services for Margaret will be under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home in Herkimer, with burial to take place at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in East Herkimer at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the hospice organization of your choice.
