Mrs. Dawn Elizabeth Santmyer, 67, of 26 Winton Lane, Dolgeville, died early Saturday morning, December 12, 2015, at her residence, of natural causes. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded with the love and support of her family and her special care givers.
Dawn was born in Ilion on May 24, 1948, the daughter of Orville D. and Cecile (Geer) Bailey, and attended Herkimer Schools.
She was united in marriage to Robert R. Santmyer, Sr., on October 15, 1969, in Colebrook, CT. Bob predeceased her on January 4, 2014.
Dawn was employed throughout the years in area companies, including Union Fork and Hoe, Daniel Green Company, and prior to her illness, she was a Home Health Aide in private practice.
Her personal interests included camping and motorcycle rides with her husband. She was also the property manager for her apartment building, and she and her husband did most of the renovations for the owners.
She is survived by her sons, Robert R. Santmyer, Jr., of Mt. Joy, PA, and Chad J. Santmyer and his companion, Coreena Dedicke; a sister, Bonnie Wadsworth, of St. Johnsville; a grandson, Robert W. (Kate) Santmyer, of Lancaster, PA; a great-grandson, Robert Steven Santmyer; her nephews, Robert Pierce, Jr., and Faron and Larry Belcher. In addition, she had special friends, Eddie and Donna Rhodes, Michelle Jones and Artemisia Jaikin.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Dawn would like to acknowledge her "Special Care Givers", Coorena, Millie and Tanya, for all their love and support during her illness.
