Rapp, Thomas NEW LONDON, Conn. Thomas Rapp of New London, died suddenly while vacationing on Hilton Head Island, S.C. with his wife Barbara (Konczewski) Rapp. He was born in Albany, N.Y. on May 28, 1950 to Edward Rapp and Betty (Herzog) Rapp, his surviving parents. He was a 1968 graduate of Berne-Knox Westerlo High School. Tom had a passion for the sea and saw active duty in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS America during the Vietnam era. His love for the sea and boating led him to own and operate a successful rigging business, T.R. Rigging. He developed a love for motorcycling and he and his wife often went cruising on his Harley-Davidson. Additionally, he was a fabulous cook and was well known for his Saturday night pizzas by family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Thomas Rapp II and wife Peg of Key West, Fla., Kelly Anderson of Ga., Kathleen Rapp of New London; sisters, Sharon Shirikian and husband Jim and Connie Gebhardt and husband Bryan of Colonie; grandchildren, cousins, nephew and nieces. A memorial service will be held November 7 at Lisha's Kill Reformed Church, Schenectady, N.Y. at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Tom's name to the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) via www.vva.org/support.
