I was very sad to hear of Holly's death. I was only 11 when I first met her as child eating dinner nightly for a few months around the table at the International Guest House at the Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana, India where Holly and my family were staying. I remember wide ranging conversations about politics and the environment, and in part, Holly's example encouraged my career in international environmental policy and politics as a grew up and kept in touch with her via my family.

Dear Sims family,
Please accept my heart-felt condolences on the passing of our cherished Prof. Holly Sims. Take courage and comfort in the fact that she was not only an accomplished intellectual, but an exceptionally good and thoughtful human being. Prof. Sims was my mentor, a great listener, and a reliable adviser. She was not just an international scholar, but she truly lived a life that was rich in international understanding. I am still trying to adapt to the fact that she is no longer with us, but I know that the memory of her accomplishments and her goodness will live on forever.

Sincerely,
Sesan Badejo, Ph.D.

Holly was a colleague of mine at the University at Albany. I worked with her in Somalia and other settings. Holly clearly cared deeply about her students, and had such a rich and varied set of experiences she could bring to them. I will miss her a great deal, and send my best wishes and condolences to her family and loved ones.
