Zalen, Ruth SILVER SPRING, Md. On Saturday, June 27, 2015, Ruth Zalen of Silver Spring, and West Palm Beach, Fla., passed away in her sleep after a lengthy illness. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Zalen and the late Hyman Diamond; devoted mother of Stanley (Valerie) Zalen, Janice (Jared Wermiel) Zalen; loving grandmother of Joshua (Kristine) Zalen, Matt (Eva) Zalen, Abigail Stiers, Joseph Stiers, Dania (Daniel) Dobosz; great-grandmother of Hannah, Aaron, Yonatan, Ariella, Koby, and Elizabeth Zalen and Caleb Dobosz, and also very beloved Aunt. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, N.Y. Minyan will be at Stanley Zalen's home at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Shiva visiting hours at his home are 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to JSSA Hospice, Rockville, Md., Temple Israel, or Congeration Beth Abraham-Jacob. Ruth's beloved memory is a treasure to all her family and friends.

Zeiger, Robert Nelson - Kittanning  
Zeiger, Robert Nelson KITTANNING, Pa Robert Nelson Zeiger, 89, of Kittanning, died July 2, 2015. Born in Kearny, N.J., he was raised in Summit. He studied engineering at Northwestern University until being drafted into the Army in 1943. The Army sent him to Penn State University to continue his studies. Upon discharge, he returned to Penn State, where he earned three engineering degrees and was a member of Tau Beta Pi and four other honorary societies. Bob had a beautiful, baritone voice, and sang church solos while at Northwestern. He played the flute and was an avid tennis player and swimmer. Employed by U.S. Steel, he established computer programs in plants here and in France. In retirement, he split his time between Acapulco, Mexico and Kittanning, and climbed mountains in Mexico and France. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Dorothy (Slade) Zeiger, and is survived by his brother, Donald Zeiger of Wilton. Zenzen, Frederick J. - Rensselaer  
Zenzen, Frederick J. RENSSELAER Frederick J. Zenzen Jr., age 90, of Rensselaer passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, after a long illness. Fred was born in Albany and lived in Rensselaer for 55 years. Mr. Zenzen was employed and retired from the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church in Rensselaer, attending St. Joseph's Church for many years. Fred was a member of the K of C Council 267 in Rensselaer. Husband of the late Anne D. Farrell Zenzen. Father of Fred J. (Fran) Zenzen III of Chandler, Ariz. Grandfather of Jake and John. He was predeceased by a brother and sister and is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Monday, July 6, 2015, at 9 a.m., and 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, 50 Herrick Street, Rensselaer, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
