Bentz, Audrey F. - Sheboygan  
Bentz, Audrey F. SHEBOYGAN, Wis. Audrey F. Bentz, 89, of Westmere, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2015, with her daughters by her side. Audrey was born in Schenectady on April 26, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel R. (Shaver) Fitzpatrick. She lived in Schenectady from 1926 to 1930, and then moved to Albany. She was dedicated at three days old by Mabel Vreeland and baptized in 1936 at 10 years old by Elder Cardy. She went to school in McKownville, then School 27 through sixth grade, then seventh back to McKownville. She began nursing school at Child's Hospital one week before her 18th birthday and graduated as a PN in January 1946. She worked as a nanny then worked at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Brady Farrell Maternity Hospital, then at St. Peter's Hospital as a childcare technician for many years, retiring in 1976. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband of over 51 years, Peter J. Bentz and her brother, Charles Fitzpatrick. Audrey is survived by her loving daughters, Judith (Wayne Sr.) Eells of Westmere and Patricia (John) Harrison of Sheboygan; her cherished grandchildren, Wayne (Jennifer) Eells Jr., Christopher (Buffy) Eells, Joseph (Margaret) Harrison, Kate (Jonathan) Belval, Michael (Aimee) Harrison; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Justin Eells, Joshua Eells, Michaela Eells, Natalie Eells, Riley Eells, Logan Schroeter, Zoe and Dominic Schroeter, Levi Harrison, Jude Harrison, Nolan Belval, Meadow Harrison and baby Harrison. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Greater Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church. Boochever, Joseph - Albany  
Boochever, Joseph ALBANY Joseph Boochever, 91, of Albany and Bolton Landing, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died at home on August 1, 2015, after a 4 1/2 year illness. A life-long Albanian, Joe was born on June 7, 1924, the only child of the late Clara (Simon) and William Boochever. In December 1942, at the age of eighteen, Joe was drafted and entered the Army in March 1943. He was shipped to Europe in August 1944 as a replacement infantryman, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Combat Infantrymen's Badge and the Bronze Star. Upon his discharge from the Army in November 1945, he resumed his studies on the G.I. Bill, graduating from Syracuse University in 1946 and Cornell Law School in 1949. Joe specialized in healthcare law for 46 years at Hinman Straub, P.C., retiring in 1996. He was proud of his military service and devoted to his community, serving as president of the boards of the Daughters of Sarah and Albany Jewish Family Services, and as a board member for the Visiting Nurse Association, the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, Senior Services of Albany, the Community Health Plan (CHP) and Congregation Beth Emeth. In 2009, he was honored with a Senior Lifetime Achievement Award from the Capital District Senior Issues Forum. Joe is survived by his daughter, Susan Feldman (Arthur) of Philadelphia; his son, Stephen Boochever (Patti) of Estero, Fla.; and his grandchildren, Samuel Boochever of Charlottesville, Va., Rachel Boochever of Palo Alto, Calif., Emily Feldman of La Jolla, Calif., and Elizabeth Feldman of Philadelphia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in 2011 by his wife of 61 years, Arliene. Joe was a modest, kind, smart and gentle man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed reading the "New York Times" and the "New Yorker" while listening to jazz and sitting on his porch overlooking Lake George, where he had summered since the age of four. Funeral services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road, Albany on Tuesday, August 4, at 11. Burial will follow in the Beth Emeth Cemetery in Loudonville. Friends are invited to the Boochever residence in Albany immediately following burial. There will be no further calling hours. Boyer, Jeanette - Slingerlands  
Boyer, Jeanette SLINGERLANDS Jeanette Boyer, 101, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at her residence at Beverwyck in Slingerlands. Born in New York City on February 27, 1914, and raised in Utica, Jeanne was the daughter of Philip and Augusta Perlman. She was predeceased by her husband, David Boyer, in 1956 and later by brothers, David, Samuel, and Harold Perlman, and sister, Frances Philipson. Jeanne is survived by her three children, Shirley McLauchlin of Laguna Woods, Calif., Leslie Boyer of Albany, and Dennis Boyer and wife, Merle Sandler of Newton, Mass.; four grandchildren, Margot Boyer-Dry of Brooklyn and Jonathan Boyer-Dry of Los Angeles, Laura McLauchlin of Los Angeles, Douglas McLauchlin of Guyra, NSW, Australia, and their spouses; great-grandchildren, Kaige and Cyan McLauchlin of Australia; and by her cousins, nieces and nephews. On becoming widowed at age 42, Jeanne managed her deceased husband's business, Federal Auto Supply, then sold it, and worked for the New York State Office of the Attorney General until retirement. She loved the law and legal research. She was a member of Congregation Beth Emeth and served as an officer on the Board of its Sisterhood for many years. She was a member of Hadassah, the Jewish Community Center, and the Monday Musical Club Choir. She also served as an assistant leader for Brownie and Girl Scout troops at Albany's School 16. Jeanne enjoyed travel, her dogs, and participating in sports of all kinds. A crossword enthusiast, she enjoyed learning and was always enrolled in classes during her working years and in retirement. Jeanne loved music and enjoyed attending the live Metropolitan Opera broadcasts at the movie theater, even in her last years. Jeanne had a strong sense of social justice, and was described by all as gracious. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Suzanne Shelto, and the remarkable staff at both the Terrace and Eddy Village Green at Beverwyck for their loving care and friendship. Brandes, Philip D. SCHENECTADY Philip D. Brandes, age 92, died on August 1 2015. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific area. After graduating from R.P.I, under the G.I. Bill, with a degree in engineering, he spent his professional career with the General Electric Company. He kept secrets well, and did not disclose his special work on the guidance system of military equipment until decades later. Philip was predeceased by his brothers, George and Louis Brandes; and by his sister, Sara Brandes Handelman. He is survived by his nephew, Mark Handelman (Barrie); and by his niece, Marsha Handelman Jaros (Murray) and their respective families. Philip was a member of Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union St., Niskayuna, NY 12309. Contributions in his memory may be made to the synagogue. Funeral services will be private.
