Anthony C. Clemenzi

Clemenzi, Anthony C. MENANDS Anthony C. Clemenzi, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany with his family at his side. Born in Watervliet on September 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank and Maria D'Amico Clemenzi. Mr. Clemenzi was raised in Menands and was a graduate of Menands School. He later graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany and Siena College in Loudonville where he studied English literature. He also studied language and culture in Florence, Italy. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Upon returning home, he assisted his mother in the operation of the family store in Menands. He later was employed by the Village of Menands Water Department for over 20 years before retiring in 1994. He was a faithful communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church in Menands. He was a lifetime member of the Menands Fire Co. 1 and was a member of the Menands VFW Post. He enjoying traveling to Italy, France and Mexico and was fond of the culture and languages of Europe. He was a very devoted and loving family man. He was the dear husband of the late Mary Felicia Woodka Clemenzi who died in 1993. Beloved father of Mary Anne (Bryan) McHarg of Watervliet, Joseph Francis (Linda) Clemenzi of North Greenbush, Anne Christine (Paul) Sano of Wynantskill, Eugenio Gian Paolo (Kristen) Clemenzi of Duxbury, Mass., Gregory Byron (Griselda) Clemenzi of North Greenbush, Carl Vincent Clemenzi of Menands and Katerina Giglianna (Jeffrey) Dziarcak of Grafton; proud grandfather of Emily and Benjamin McHarg, Maryssa and Anthony Sano, Adam, Nicholas, Joshua and Leonardo Clemenzi; loving brother of Arthur (Kathleen) Clemenzi of Watervliet, Mary Niccoli of Latham and the late Frances Clemenzi; brother-in-law of Edward (Joan) Woodka of Albany and the late John Woodka. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of the Stratton VA Medical Center especially the Silver Team, ICU and Hospice Unit and the chaplain, Rev. Joseph Grasso for their caring and compassionate care of our father. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 8:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 9 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cabrini Mission Foundation, 222 East 19th Street, Suite 5E, New York, NY 10003 to assist children at risk.
