Anthony J. Clemente

Clemente, Anthony J. TROY Anthony J. Clemente, 88, of Speigletown Road, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Orazio and Maria Ambrosac-chio Clemente and the beloved husband of Lena Nigro Clemente and Inez Nigro Clemente. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was bestowed the American Service, Asiatic Pacific Service, Good Conduct and the World War II Victory Medals as well as the Philippines Liberation Ribbon. Mr. Clemente recently retired from Troy Sand & Gravel in West Sand Lake and Bonded Concrete where he had served as President, a business that he and his brother Tory operated since 1958. Anthony was previously employed at Clemente Brothers in Troy. Mr. Clemente was a Charter Member of the Speigletown Volunteer Fire Co. and a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh and of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure's Church) in Speigletown. He also attended Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church in Troy. Anthony was also very generous is supporting the community with donations to various causes. Devoted father of Rose (Michael) Morone of Colonie, Marie (Joseph) Waitekus of Raymer-town and John O. (Debra) Clemente of Unionville, Va.; dear brother of Salvatore "Tory" (Anne) Clemente of Troy and Gay (the late, Phillip) Rindone of Hebron, Conn.; cherished grandfather of Theresa (Scott) Featherstone, Angela (Todd) Morone-Corder, Eli Morone, Kristen (Michael) Stephan, David Waitekus and John Robert Clemente; adored great-grand-father of Jack Featherstone and Jacob and Alison Stephan. Anthony is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral will be held on Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (Corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue) in Lansingburgh thence to St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh where at 12:00 Noon his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144, in memory of Anthony J. Clemente. Anthony's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Shaneiva, Danielle, Brandon and Community Hospice of Rensselaer for the care that has been provided to him and his family.
