Constance A. LaFleche

LaFleche, Constance A. CLIFTON PARK Constance A. "Connie" LaFleche, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her residence, after a five year battle with lung cancer. She was born on March 12, 1945 in Corinth and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen Norkum Moylan. She was a graduate of Corinth High School and also attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Connie served our country in the U.S. Navy as a court reporter during the Vietnam Era and she served overseas in Japan. After receiving her honorable discharge, she spent several years working as a legal secretary for various attorneys. Connie returned to the Capital District in 1983 and worked for 10 years as a licensed real estate broker with Blackman & DeStefano Real Estate. She was employed by Verizon for 15 years, retiring in 2009 as a result of her struggle with her illness. Connie was a trusted servant of the friends of Bill W., spending countless hours giving away, what was so freely given to her. She was also so grateful for the gifts she received as a result of her association with this wonderful organization. Her wisdom and presence will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Munger and her brother, Larry Moylan. Survivors include her loving husband, David B. LaFleche; her daughter, Renee Bales; her sister, Lois Panetta; step-children, David D. (Debbie) LaFleche and Jacqueline M. (Bic) Surakan; her five grandsons, Drake Bales, Tai Surakan, Christian and Caleb LaFleche and Logan Surakan. Connie is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A true lover of all animals, Connie was predeceased by her beloved cat Polyanna Purzwell and is survived by her cats Fibber, McGee and Tuffy. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses, who worked wonders to extend her life as long as possible. Her oncologist, Dr. Charles Weissman; her surgeon, Dr. Hilton Hosanna; her pulmonologist, Dr. Shaffarani Suvdaraw and nurses, Amanda, Lori and Kelly and hospice nurse Sheri. Also to extend their gratitude to her friends from A.A. who helped greatly with her care and spiritual well being. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 9 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, March 28 at 1 p.m. in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or to the Mohawk Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
