Lesson, Dwaine T. MECHANICVILLE Tech Sgt. Dwaine T. Lesson, USAF Ret., 67, longtime resident of Mechanicville, and a winter resident of MacDill AFB, Tampa, Fla., where he and wife served as Family Camp night hosts for the past two years, succumbed to a short illness, on Friday, June 14, 2013 (Flag Day), at Bay Pines VA Hospice in Florida. Born in Troy, July 20, 1945, son of the late Felix and Ollie Lee Lesson, he was a 1965 graduate of Mechanicville High School and 1989 grad of University of Maryland. Dwaine served in the US Army
from 1965-68, serving as an MP in the Republic of South Vietnam for a years tour of duty. Later he enlisted in the US Air Force
serving from 1972 until retiring as a technical sergeant in 1989. After military service, Dwaine was an emergency services specialist for Saratoga County, retiring in 2007. He also served as a security guard for Command Security in Ballston Spa for several years. A past exulted ruler and longtime member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge
, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of both the DAV and Vietnam Veterans
of America. He was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church for many years. Dwaine was a faithful and loving husband and family man, wonderfully devoted father and Poppa, who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Peggy Anne Doyle Lesson; son, Kevin T. Lesson of Mechanicville; daughters, Michelle (James) Alheim of Greenwich, Peggy J. (Joseph) Rutsky of Saratoga Springs, Kathleen M. Lesson of Mechanicville and Heather Anne Lesson of Brookline, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Dwaine's family appreciated the dignity and respect given to Dwaine and family, and the compassion, love and concern afforded to a true patriot. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19 at noon at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with full military honors at Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So.
