Frank Edward O'Brien III

O'Brien, Frank Edward III ALBANY Frank Edward O'Brien III passed into the hands of God on Thursday morning, December 14, 2006 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife of ten years, Keri C. O'Brien; his parents, Frank and Mary Beth O'Brien; family and friends. He was 40. Frank was born in Albany, N.Y. on March 22, 1966. He was the second of six children and the only son of Frank Edward O'Brien Jr. of Albany and Mary Beth Casey O'Brien of Troy. Frank possessed an unparalleled zest for life, love, the outdoors and sports. Throughout his youth, Frank was a gifted athlete. He spent many early mornings at practice and was a star in Albany Youth Hockey. He attended Albany Academy, where he was a member of the 1983 NYS Section II championship hockey team. Frank attended the University of Notre Dame, where he earned varsity letters in hockey and lacrosse. After graduating in 1988, Frank fulfilled a lifelong dream and played professional hockey in the United States and Sweden. Upon Frank's return from Europe, he went to work at Fuller O'Brien, Inc. He served as senior vice president, working alongside of his father, Frank Jr. and Thomas Tyrrell. He viewed his associates and clients as family. In 1996, Frank married the love of his life, Keri Cunningham of Troy. True soul-mates, they were blessed with three beautiful children, Shane Casey, Francoise Marie and Lila Lourdes. Above all his other attributes and skills, Frank's truest calling in life was family. Whether spending time at home or in his beloved Adirondacks fishing, boating and skiing, he cherished every day with his wife and children. Friendly, energetic, wisecracking - and ultimately humble and brave, Frank was loved by many and was blessed with hundreds of friends near and far. In his final days, many showered him with kindness and thanksgiving. Our Frank will be mourned and celebrated by the lives he touched. Frank was a member of the University of Notre Dame Monogram Club, the Fort Orange Club, the Albany Country Club and formerly served on the board of governors of the Albany Sons of Saint Patrick, Catholic Charities and the Albany Academy Alumni Board. In addition to his wife, children and parents, Frank is survived by five sisters, Constance O'Brien Penman (Andrew) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Maureen O'Brien Donovan (William) of North Creek, Kathleen O'Brien Tobin (Duffy) of Albany, Cara O'Brien Whalen (Mark) of Albany and Patricia O'Brien Klaus (Daniel) of Wilton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
