Helen (Starks) Behan

Behan, Helen (Starks) MECHANICVILLE Mrs. Helen Starks Behan, 89, of Bennington Ave., died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness. Born in Riverside, May 29, 1923, daughter of the late James and Josephine Dymon Starks, she was educated and lived in Mechanicville all her life. She was a homemaker who years ago had worked for the Mechanicville Housing Authority and before that for Harold Holt Assoc. of Albany. A longtime member of the Mechanicville Home Bureau, she loved crafts and enjoyed the Racino and Foxwoods trips. A member of the Assumption-St. Paul Church, Helen was small in stature but had a large caring heart for everyone, especially her granddaughter. Her husband of 53 years, Joseph E. Behan died in 2003, along with her sister, Mary Starks and brothers, James and Joseph Starks. Survivors include her son, Michael E. Behan of Mechanicville; her precious granddaughter, Laura Behan of Cohoes and Laura's dog Rosie; her nephews, Marshall and Mitchell Starks of Virginia and Paul Behan of Pennsylvania. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. at All Saints on the Hudson South Church (St. Paul's), 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial alongside her husband at Saratoga National Cemetery.
