Henry C. Werner

Werner, Henry C. NISKAYUNA Henry C. Werner, 80, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Henry was born in the Bronx, son of the late Henry and Julia Werner. At the age of 16, Henry joined the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. During service to his country, he became partially disabled from an exploding hand grenade. It was during rehabilitation that Henry met and married Rita, his wife of 59 years. Together they raised nine children. Henry, with support from Rita, persevered through injury to attend New York University and serve 40 years as a warrant officer for the New York State Division of Parole. His career included a legacy of mentoring novice warrant officers as well as training officers in firearm safety and accuracy. Survivors include his beloved wife, Rita; loving daughters, Allison Brown, Rita and Donna; sons, Henry, Craig, Keith, Robert, Christopher and Steven; as well as six grandsons, seven granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Ferrari Funeral Home, 1503 Union St. (at McClellan Street), on April 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial with military honors will be on April 15 at 12 p.m., at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery,200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
