Irma Castle Smith

Smith, Irma Castle GREEN ISLAND Irma Castle Smith, 102, formerly of Green Island, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at The Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Troy. She was wife of the late William L. Smith, who died in 1979. Born in New Baltimore, daughter of the late Charles and Viola VanSteen-burg Castle, she moved to Green Island in 1929. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a former member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Green Island Senior Citizens. She was also an avid bingo player. She is survived by three daughters, Norma (Roy) Bryce of Waterford, Pat (late Arthur) Dupont of Florida and Mary Lou (Jim) Wilson of Latham; nine grandchildren, Debra Gifford, James (Shelly) and David Bryce, Sandra Gethins, Paul and Scott (Anne Marie) Dupont, Shari Belanger and James (Misty) and Michael (Kristie) Wilson; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Melvin Castle. Funeral services will be held at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Ave., Green Island on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery in New Baltimore.
