John A. "Jack" Finch

Finch, John A. "Jack" TROY John A. "Jack" Finch, 80, of Sixth Ave, peacefully entered into eter- nal life at his residence on Monday, August 19, 2013. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late John L. and Margaret M. Flynn Finch and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1952. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was awarded the Occupation Medal Germany and the National Defense Service Medal and served in the Honor Guard during the Eisenhower administration. Jack had been employed at OTB in Troy and Watervliet and had previously been employed at National Shoes in Troy and Ford Motor Co. in Green Island. He enjoyed playing softball in the 112th Street Softball League in Lansingburgh and was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh. Devoted father of Lynne M. Strack of Troy, Karen T., Patricia A., Terry A., John A., Jr. and Mark W. Finch, all of Watervliet and Robin A. Finch (Gregory Troup) of Old Forge; grandfather of Heather Parent (Tod), Stephen Strack, Jen Strack (Sara), Shawn and Christopher Finch; great-grandfather of Ty Parent, Lexxi Strack, Alyia, Layla and Bella Finch; brother of the late Orson A. and the late William J. Finch who is survived by his sons, William and Michael Finch, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., (Corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue) in Lansingburgh on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service and interment with military honors will be held private at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy.
