John Granniss

Granniss, John HANNACROIX John Granniss ended his painful journey peacefully on July 3, 2013. He was a man of faith, friend to many, adoring husband and family man as well as a veteran of the Army's 11th Airborne Division. His gentle spirit opened his eyes to see God's hand in nature's pallet. He had an artist's touch, but chose to hone his skill in gardening and landscape design, ensuring that the design included beauty, form, function and a space for all creatures great and small. Just another example of his generous nature, good stewardship and faithfulness. John's dearest treasure was his loving family. The joy of his life was his wife of 50 years, Barbara, who held his heart tenderly as he passed from this life to the next in their Hannacroix home. The jewels in the crown of their marriage were their daughters, Trudy (Mohamed) Ewiss of Schenectady and Denice (Kathy Miller) Green of Warnerville. Blossoms of grandchildren graced their family tree, Robert John Andretta of Huntington Station, Eric Kolakowski of Genesseo, Sara Green of Warnerville, Amanda Ewiss and Nora Ewiss of Schenectady and a great-granddaughter, Lyla Andretta of Huntington Station. John is survived by his brothers, James (Bea) Granniss of Amityville, Charles (Carol) Granniss of Sayville and Ed (Maryjane) Klein of Colorado. Preceding him in death were his mother, Irene Schwabrow and father, Charles Granniss. Also predeceased by his brother, Henry. John will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. at W.C. Brady's Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie.
