Adkins, John T. "Jack" WATERVLIET John T. "Jack" Adkins, 65, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 15, 2013. Born in Fall River, Mass. on November 3, 1948, Jack was the son of the late Ora and Grace E. Hayes Adkins.He was raised in North Stonington, Conn. and Schenectady before moving to Watervliet in 1964. Jack was a graduate of Watervliet High School and served his country in both the U.S. Air Force and Army
National Guard in a military career which spanned more than 22 years. He was ordered to active duty in 1990 to serve in the Army in Iraq during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged, in 1995, with the rank of staff sergeant. Jack worked as a police officer
in Beaumont, Texas and Denver, Colo. He worked for more than 15 years for Bank of America and more recently was employed as a security officer at the Palace Theater in Albany and for Concert Services, Inc. He was a member of the Watervliet City Post # 729 VFW
, where his father had once served as post commander and was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Christine M. (Blair) Adkins; his daughter and son, Jennifer (Gary) Elrod of Porter, Texas and Jeffrey (Tiffany) Adkins of Montgomery, Texas; his stepsons, Stephen Haner of Seattle, Wash. and Brian Haner of Vermilion, Ohio; his grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Savanah, Emily, Mackenzie and Baylee; his brother, Gary (Kathleen) Adkins of Watervliet; his sister, Lorie (Steven) Berliner of Watervliet and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at 12 noon in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery.
