Mary Ann Cushing

Cushing, Mary Ann WATERVLIET Mary Ann Grillo Cushing, 75, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Troy on June 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Gulley Grillo. A lifelong resident of Watervliet, Mary Ann attended School 9 and was a 1956 graduate of Watervliet High School. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company, Gurley Instruments in Troy, Watervliet Urban Renewal and last by the New York State Assembly as a journal clerk for 20 years before retiring in 1994. Mary Ann was also a homemaker and was involved in many activities at St. Patrick's School and St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet, where she was a communicant. She is the beloved wife of 54 years of Harry J. Cushing Jr.; devoted mother of Keith J. (Patricia) Cushing of Rexford; loving grandmother of Devin J. Cushing; dear sister of Joan M. (Michael) Burke of Watervliet; sister-in-law of Marjorie (late Joe) Finn of Latham; Sr. Mary Damien, C.S.J. of Latham; Helen Shufon and Kathleen (late Kevin) Bayly, both of Watervliet; and Elizabeth Cushing of Averill Park. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Entombment of ashes will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 pm. There are no calling hours.
