O. Joyce Connelly

Connelly, O. Joyce TROY O. "Boo Boo" Joyce Frerer Connelly, 77, entered into eternal rest on January 26, 2013 at Community Hospice in St. Mary's Hospital with her family by her side after a brief illness. Born in Troy on October 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd A. Frerer and Olive Cramer Frerer and loving wife of the late Edward J. "Fast Eddie" Connelly, who died in 2004 and the most loving and devoted mother to Coleen Connelly Mantello of Troy and the late Gary "Murph" Murphy. A lifelong resident of Lansingburgh, she attended Troy Schools. She was a medical specialist in the United States Army who cared for the wounded, stationed in Frankfort, Germany during the Korean War. She was so very proud and honered to give them her loving care, as she did to all who knew her throughout her life. Joyce was a true caregiver in every sense of the word. She worked in collections at the New York State Department of Education for 20 years. Joyce enjoyed her weekly breakfasts and trips around town with her beloved friend Louise "Weezie" Trinchillo and her monthly lunches with the girls and her "favorite bartender" Bill at Verdiles in Troy. What fun they had. She loved to reminisce about the trip to Hawaii she took with her beloved husband Eddie for their 25th wedding anniversary and forever friends Carol and Bob Harrington. Joyce was blessed with many family and wonderful friends that meant so much to her. Her giving and loving ways knew no end, she will be so very missed by all who were so lucky to be touched by her love and kindness. Survivors in addition to her daughter Coleen; include her most cherished grandchildren, Jordan Anthony and Samantha Claire Mantello; her favorite son- in-law Craig A. Mantello, all of Troy; her much loved grandnephew Devon Osterhout; her loving and devoted nieces, Aloma Osterhout and Carol A. Connelly who have been there every step of the way. She was also survived by several nieces and a nephew and of course so many beloved friends and her beloved Boo Boo Kitty. Joyce was predeceased by her only brother, Lloyd A. Frerer Jr. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, with Rev. Rick Otto, officiating.Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Gardner Earl Crematorium, Troy. Burial will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
