Richard D. Christie

Christie, Richard D. COLONIE Richard D. Christie, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a 10-day family vigil at his bedside. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Rowena and Dewitt Christie. Richard was a resident of Colonie for 45 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. While in Korea, he started a baseball team for his troop in their down time. Richard had a strong devotion to his family and a great love of baseball. His favorite team was the Chicago Cubs and he was the No. 1 fan of the legendary Ted Williams, along with football's Green Bay Packers. Richard was a member of the "Old Timers" softball league. Richard loved people. He enjoyed meeting new people and engaging in the art of conversation and discussing their interests. Richard would ask them "Who's your favorite ball team?" and then the conversation would flow. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and copying articles of interest for family members to enjoy. Richard loved to travel, especially to national parks. Along with his parents, Richard was predeceased by his loving wife of 19 years, Pamela (Lacey) Christie. He is survived by his children, David (Elizabeth) Christie, Shelly (Brian) Burris and Sabrina (Ken) Ross; siblings, Carolyn Soule of Florida and Alan Christie of Oregon; mother-in-law, Lorraine Lacey; brother-in-law, Richard (Donna) Lacey; grandchildren, Cashelle, Justin, Zachary and Kyra; dear cousin, Kathleen Lippiello; companion, Betty L.
