Lawrence, Stasia N. (Ekiert) COHOES Stasia N. Ekiert Lawrence, 90, of Park Ave., Cohoes died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Eddy Village Green embraced by her loving family. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Nellie Futyra Ekiert and beloved wife of Joseph Lawrence of Cohoes. Stasia was a life long area resident and attend the Cohoes Schools. She was employed with Troy District Shirt, Co, Tech Hughes and retired in 1977 as a factory worker from the Norton Company where she was a member of the Norton Retirees. Stasia was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Cohoes and a member of the Ladies Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and loved gardening. In her retirement, she treasured traveling the world with her husband. Some of their destinations included, Canada, Poland, France, Italy, Switzerland, in addition to their annual tips to Florida. She also participated in many pilgrimages, visiting Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in France and to Rome with a very special audience with the Pope. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children, Nancy A. Lawrence of Marietta, Ga. and Thomas J. Lawrence of Mich.; granddaughters, Jennifer and Michelle Rouse; great-granddaughter, Melissa Rouse, all of Vermont and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Caroline Luczkowec and Joseph Ekiert. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd, 105 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes, Friday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated a St. Michael's Church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Those wishing to remember Stasia may make contributions in her memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc, 4 Pine West Plaza, Albany NY 12205.
