Deborah Cianfarani Obituary

Cianfarani, Deborah A. CHARLTON Deborah A. Cianfarani, 57, died peacefully at her home January 29, 2012 with her family by her side. Born in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Rayma L. Wyman of Glenville and the late Franklin D. Wyman. Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School. She took Giovanni Cianfarani's hand in marriage in 1972 and raised a family together. Debbie and Giovanni have lived in Charlton for many years. Debbie has been associated with Union College for more than 17 years, working in the dining hall, the athletic department and finally as an administrative assistant with the financial aid department at the college. Debbie herself enjoyed reading and cooking. She took great pride in running sponsored races for worthwhile causes, including the Race 4 Literacy, Saratoga Special Olympics, Freihofer Run for Women, Race 4 Cure-Susan G. Komen and First Nite Saratoga. Family meant the most to Debbie. She opened her home to many and any day of the year would cook for them. She especially enjoyed the four seasons of the Northeast and rarely missed the opportunity for a brisk run to start the day. She will be missed by all who knew her, because of the compassionate and giving person she was. Debbie was involved with her church and taught catechism for the Rainbow Class at Immaculate. A quote fitting reads as follows: "I attended the Stowe Weekend of Hope for three years. Stowe is incredibly beautiful, and during my time in Stowe, I found such peace. I met so many wonderful people and became instant friends with them. I learned many valuable things from the speakers and also from the survivors. Your donation will help insure the SWOH continues. I want to enable other cancer survivors to have the opportunity to experience what I did." She was predeceased by her father, a daughter, Angela ('72) and her son, Antonio Cianfarani ('99). Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Giovanni; her sons, Luigi, Angelo and Dante (fiance Heather Benavent) Cianfarani; daughters, Alisa, Vanessa and Giuliana Cianfarani; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Zepf, Antonio and Ayla Cianfarani and Arianna Haizlip. Deb leaves behind a brother, Michael Wyman of Burnt Hills; niece Amber Wyman and nephew Adam Wyman; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Thursday 9:15 a.m., from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, followed at 10 a.m., by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, with the Rev. Pat Butler officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Glenville Funeral Home. Interment, Memory Gardens, Colonie. Debbie was the first strong female presence in my life that I loved and respected as a second mother since I first started seeing her late son Antonio. She always seemed to understand my undying love for him and supported our love and friendship as only a woman with a great heart and a wise way could. I can't thank Debbie enough for her kindness, love and caring for me since age 13. When I turned to her for advice it was always helpful and came from a place of understanding because she had once been in everyone's shoes at one point in her own life. I have always admired her strength for everything her life threw at her she endured and was able to carry on as an example for the rest of us to emulate. The Cianfarani's have been the most important family in my life and forever will be. I will always keep you close to my heart, in my prayers and I will celebrate your life. She is an example for us all. I love you Debbie and give your son a warm loving embrace for me for I miss him more everyday as I will you. With all of my heart, love, and compassion - Lauren Sylvester.
