William J. Canavally

Canavally, William J. LOUDONVILLE William J. Canavally, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. William was born in Troy to the late James and Marguerite Canavally. He had an extensive background in law enforcement and left the area to pursue an acting career in California. After living in California for a few years he would return to the Capital District and resumed his career in law enforcement and raised his family. William loved spending time with all of his grandchildren, being part of every activity he could. He also enjoyed traveling, especially the annual trips to Aruba with his wife Joyce, where they have met so many friends through the years. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his wife of more than 41 years, Joyce Canavally, and his sister, Marie Martin. William is survived by his children, Damon, Kyle, and Kristin; and his cherished grandchildren, Devin, Isabella, Kyle Jr., Alexis, Kameron, and Connor. He is also survived by his brother and sister, James Canavally and Kathryn Ryan. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 9 a.m., at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, then to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
