Jann Leonard Obituary

Leonard, Jann (Craven) TROY Jann Christine Leonard, 48, passed suddenly of natural causes on January 15, 2018. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of John F. Craven of East Greenbush and Linda Purtell Craven, also of East Greenbush; the beloved wife of 26 years of Thomas F. Leonard (retired Troy Fire Dept.); and the loving mother of Jessica Mae, Victoria Linn, and Rebecca Rose Leonard. A 1987 graduate of Columbia High School, she was also a graduate of Maria College, class of 1989. Jann was employed for more than 20 years at Quester 3 at Red Mill School in East Greenbush. She supported her children in all of their passions, including music and dance. Jann also dedicated her life to caring for her daughter with special needs. Survivors also include her sister, Susan (Timothy) Fox of Delmar; a brother, Stephen (Estelle) Craven of East Greenbush; several nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law, Sara (late Thomas) Leonard; special friend of the family, Susan Redmond; and many close friends and other relatives. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Daniel D. I'm just hearing of Jann's passing and so very sorry for your loss. I worked with her many years ago at Kmart as I was studying Occupational Therapy. She was an incredible resource for me when I was in school. Time passed and our paths would cross frequently at the local Walmart where would do a quick catch up. She was always an inspiration to me as she moved through life with grace. My second child was born with Kabuki Syndrome and Jann was so kind to share personal thoughts and ideas to steer me on my new chapter in life. I would still see Jann some mornings at Red Mill if I was late dropping my daughter off and we would share a quick hello and if time an update. She was always smiling and had such a genuine sole. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. She will be missed.

Tom, Jessica, Victoria & Rebecca: I am saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Jann. I worked with Jann at Questar III and also worked with Jessica for many years. Jann was an extremely supportive parent who always made certain Jessica received adequate services. She was also a great therapist and will be missed by many of her students and colleagues.
