Ann J. Holstein

1961 - 2018

Holstein, Ann J. GREENVILLE Ann Judith Holstein, 56, passed away at her home, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Ann was born in Albany on January 19, 1961, and was the daughter of Edwin J. and Katherine J. (Hansen) Holstein. She was raised and educated in Troy and was a graduate of the University at Albany, SUNY: Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy. Ann was formerly employed by the Northeastern Regional Foodbank and later dedicated herself to raising her family. Ann was president of the Greenville Board of Education and was a 14 year member. She was very active in the Greenville School District at large, having served on committees, Greenville Foundation, elementary PTA, middle school-high school PTSA, Greenville Youth Soccer and quilting and knitting clubs. A homemaker in every sense of the word, Ann graciously kept her house and her fridge open to all, so much, that it became a center of the community. She enjoyed passing on her homemaking skills by teaching cooking and knitting to friends and family. Ann was the loving wife of Eric Joseph Herbstritt; devoted mother of David Robert Herbstritt and James McFarland Herbstritt; dear sister of John Holstein and Lynn Holstein and aunt to several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Ann, by the Reverend Edward Kacerguis, on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel+Cultural Center at R.P.I., 2125 Burdett Ave., Troy. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Ann's family at the Chapel+Cultural Center on Saturday, prior to the Mass, from 9 until 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, and to remember Ann in a very special way, the family suggests donations to establish the Ann Holstein Fund can be made to the Greenville Educational Foundation, P.O.
