October 29, 2019
I have been a patient of Dr. Putnam for 20 years and I am so sad to hear this news, I just saw him in September and cant believe that is the last time I will see him. He has always been so kind and concerned for me, we shared a great love for our children and grandchildren and often compared stories. He was a wonderful person and physician, my husband and daughter were also his patients and we want to extend our deepest sympathy to his family. He will be greatly missed. God Bless

God bless Dr. Putnam and his family. I loved the Adirondack feel of his office on Northern Blvd and the one on Manning Blvd in Albany. It was just the beginning of how at ease Dr. Putnam would make his patients feel. Brilliant man who knew how to relate to his patients.

Just heard of Dr Putnam's passing. My husband, Phil, passed in May but was a patient for many years in several practices in Albany and his satellite office in Coxsackie. I loved how thorough he was. He was a kind gentle caring man and a wonderful doctor. Phil enjoyed their talks greatly. I offer my condolences and wanted to share how Dr Putnam touched our lives.

i'm sitting here, crying my eyes out, having just received the letter from the office regarding Dr. Putnam. I have too many things to say about how he "saved" me on so many occasions with his gentleness, caring and utterly non-judgmental care. I'm devasted. Trish, my heart is breaking. I'm so sorry. I wish i knew he was ill. I would have written to him and thanked him AND you. i'm so devasted by this news. We always talked about our children, grandchildren, our visiting them, the challenges of distance. He won that one! I wish i could wrap my head around this. I can't. Oh..... I'm so sorry ....

I am both shocked and deeply saddened at Dr. Putnam's passing. He has been my cardiologist for over 20 years and when he advised I listened closely. While I never met his family I feel their pain at losing both a husband, father and I'm sure mentor to his many children and grandchildren. God Bless the Putnam Family during this difficult time!

To the Putnam FamilyPlease accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband and father. I met Dr Putnam at Capital Cardiology right after he completed his cardiology fellowship. It was obvious from the first what a bright, compassionate, caring person he was. He also had the best sense of humor of anyone!! I remember he prepared a manual on intubation for the residents and interns. We couldn't make copies fast enough. He was always so generous with teaching and sharing knowledge. On a more personal note, he took care of my husband until his death two years ago and was always so kind and gentle with his care. I hope the knowledge of whaT a wonderful, selfless human being he was brings you comfort in your grief. The world was a better place while he was here. Kathy Loerzel

Our acquaintance occurred on a chairlift at Jiminy Peak. We skied together the remainder of the day as well as subsequent outings. What an athlete! I enjoyed our repeated 6 minute rides to the summit where we would chat about our lives, families, hopes, aspirations and dreams of staying in shape in order to continue to enjoy life to its fullest. David gave everything he approached his very best effort. From what I know of him, he excelled on all levels. Frankly, in reading his obituary, I learned more about this multi-faceted, giving man. The world has lost an outstanding, compassionate soul. My sympathies to his family, friends, and co-workers.

My sincerest condolences to the Putnam family. I first met him during a critical care course he taught at Albany Med in 1992. He was an excellent teacher. Then we worked together when I was a nurse at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was always caring, calm, respectful, and treated nurses as colleagues at all times. And then to see all he accomplished outside of work. He was an example to us all. I will miss him.

It was with tremendous sadness I learned of David's passing. He was an amazing person, gifted in so many ways! He was a wonderful and kind neighbor, a compassionate and talented physician, a devoted father, and just a special human being. In whatever he did, he always went the extra yard, going above and beyond and always erring on the side of compassion and what was right, if faced with a dilemma. I send Trish, Emily, Jamie, Darroch and their families, all of my love and deepest sympathies. The planet has lost one of the best.

Dear Trish & family,
Dr Putnam was my mom's cardiologist & took the time to write a personal note when she passed away. He took care of my son when he had pericarditis, and my daughter during her battle with cancer. And he took care of me when I was a resident going through some very challenging times. He epitomized all that we should aspire to, as physicians and as people. As we heard at his service, so many of us are left with a broken heart, none more than you. May it help to know how beloved and admired he was, and that thoughts and prayers are with you, his equally remarkable family.

Dr. Putnam was my late husband's doctor and there was never a better, kinder, friendlier doctor than he. He exceeded all expectations providing his cell phone number during a difficult time, answering my questions and offering encouragement on the patient portal earlier this year when my husband was hospitalized for a non-cardiac condition. It's hard to understand why Dr. Putnam was taken at such a young age, when my husband lived to 87 because of his care. My heart aches for his family.

Dear Trish and Family,I am so sorry to hear about Dave, he was a wonderful doctor who took care of my mother in law and my husband. I enjoyed working with him when he came to the Coxsackie office. I have known Dr. Putnam both as a patient of his for 13 years as a patient for may years and as an RN for over 40 years. he was the consummate professional caring for all with a high degree of skill and caring. As his patient, he was the kindest and most supportive doctor a patient could ask for. On a personal level I will certainly miss him. Unfortunately due to the fact that I have a severe cold, I will not be able to attend his wake and funeral mass. My deepest condolences go out to Trish and his entire family as well as thoughts and prayers to all of them.

I first met Dave when we were residents together at Albany Med. I learned a lot from him. We practiced cardiology together at AAC for many years. Dave was a great physician and medical partner and his patients loved him.
Deborah and I have fond memories of a great trip to Anguilla with Dave and Trish. Together, we suffered through a very serious tropical storm.
We also enjoyed several summers living in Bolton and commuting to Albany together.
Trish please know that you and the family are in our prayers.

Dr. Putnam was my cardiologist for the last 30 years. I valued him not only as my doctor but as a trusted confidant and friend. His empathy as a doctor was second to none and the trust I had in him was unparalleled. I last saw him in August and we spoke of his love for mountaineering and photography. I feel as if I have lost a dear and close friend. My sympathies go out to his wife Trish, whom I only had the pleasure of speaking with a few times, and to his entire family. This was a man whose time on this earth was cut too short. The good he did as a doctor, as well as the wonderful things I am sure he did as a father, a husband, and as a man of his community will be his legacy and heritage for many years to come. I am truly saddened at his loss to all that knew him. We are all a little less without his kindness and love in this world.

David and I were residents at the same time at Albany Med.He was always a kind, caring physician.Later he was cardiologist to myself and my wife. We shared many of the same interests and enjoyed our visits, discussing woodworking and hiking.
It was a shock to show up for a visit and learn that he had passed away the previous day. He is gone but we have wonderful memories of a kind and gracious person.

Dr. Putman was my doctor. He was kind, calm and explained everything to me every visit. But there is one time Dr. Putman saved my dad's life 20 years ago I remember most.My dad was brought into Albany Med ER in critical condition. Three doctors were working on him to no prevail.Dr. Putman was at the ER,but he was not my dad's doctor. The doctors working on my dad asked Dr. Putman for help.He sat down and started reading out of this big medical book for two minutes and told the doctors to do something, which did work. It saved my dad's life and the next day all the doctors were talking how brilliant the idea was that he came up with. He always cared. My thoughts to Dr. Putman's family. He will be missed by many.
