Nadia Trinkala Obituary

Trinkala, Nadia Ann COHOES Nadia "Trink" Ann Trinkala was born in Troy, June 28, 1966 and entered into eternal life on April 8, 2010. She was the beloved daughter of Michael and Dianne Trinkala of Brunswick. She is also survived by her loving brother, Michael D. Trinkala (Julie) of Sunnyvale, Calif.; uncle Michael Spiak; aunt Eileen Trinkala; cousin Chantelle Spiak; several loving aunts, uncles, cousins; many dearest friends, all of whom Nadia loved and cherished; and her very special godson, Rowan Pigott and his twin brother, Benjamin Pigott. Nadia was predeceased by her loving grandparents, Michael and Anna Spiak and Michael and Anna Trinkala. Nadia was an intensely creative spirit who was dedicated to creating a strong sense of community through which many lives have been touched. While she has been involved in a variety of creative and business pursuits, she has constantly adhered to her passion for helping people through artistic outlets. She began her career life as a very successful travel agent, which gave her the opportunity to see the world. In 1996, Nadia started her second career path in antique and collectible furniture when she ran the high end shop Nick Metropolis in Los Angeles. She returned to the Capital Region in 1997 to open her store Trink Furniture in Cohoes. The success of this venture led Nadia to upgrade to a larger location and expand with Trink Art Gallery with co-directors Tom D'Ambrose and Bob Gullie. This wonderful gallery drew huge crowds from around the Capital Region. Throughout these years, Nadia created a hub for the improvement of the art community in Cohoes and the larger Capital Region. Nadia then turned her energies toward her natural calling in life: to help others through her compassion and creativity. She began working with the disabled at ARC, Center for Disability Services, Carriage House, Living Resources and Questar. Her honest spirit, which saw the person as opposed to the disability, led her to reach people in remarkable ways. This experience drove her to seek certification in the field of creative arts and music therapy at The New School in New York City. Recently, Nadia had been sharing her time between Cohoes and Brooklyn. During this time, she had been researching a practical and philosophic framework around the idea of "The Human Citizen." In her memory, stop to ask yourself, "What does it mean to be a Human Citizen?" Farewellfree spiritour special Butterfly. We will miss your shining face, but forever have your spirit with us. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Nadia on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Cohoes Music Hall at 2 p.m. Friends and relatives are welcome. For those wishing to remember Nadia in a special way, donations in her memory may be made to Rensselaer County ARC, Residential Services, 79 102nd St., Troy, NY 12180 or to Living Resources, Carriage House Arts Program, 300 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203.

Even after 10 years I still think of the wonderful times I had with Nadia. Now she has one of her greatest friends in Heaven with her. Everything Misty said is so true. I can't articulate it any better that Misty has done. Nadia practiced what she preached...a true human citizen.

Oh my soul! I always think it will get easier it truly does not. There is no one in the universe anything like you Nadia. I still call your phone. It's still the only # I know. The person who now has the # has graciously been kind when I just can't help calling you hoping you will pick up.
We all miss you so much & try to carry on your legacy of love & mindfulness.
I carry you in my heart always. I love you till the end of all time. Thank you for all the memories & love.
To Mike & Dianne & the entire family. I can't imagine & I wish I could take this loss away. I would do anything.
To everyone who loved Nadia do carry on what she started it meant so much to her. Ask yourself, others... What does it mean to be a Human Citizen? What does it mean to be human? The answers you get remind you there is so much more love than hate in our world & that is the gift.
To hear the stories , connect with others & see yourself becoming & growing into a much more mindful human. Nadia is love & light & continues to be. I miss you so very much!

Nadia always had a smile on her face / my daughter and I purchased many items from Nadia to use at my daughters place of business when Nadia was just starting out / she was so excited when she got the job at Hippos in Styvesent Plaza / With her barter system I exchanged Personal Training lessons for a mirrior in her shop that I loved and still hangs on my wall ..actually many of her pieces are in my home / when Nadia had the job of bus driver she would stop in for lunch ... I remember her as a beautiful ..caring ..compassionate woman ... Im so saddened that such a bright light left us all way to early ...

Deep sadness and numbness.

But not without experiencing the joy of having you being a part of my life and helping me mature.

Will never forget your light and energy, and how you touched all around you.

Shocked in learning so late. Wish we could have helped more, if at all.

Will always cherish the days.

You are happy and free now.

In talking with our friend Rock this morning and we found out about Trink's passing from this world to a higher and brighter place. We think of Trink often, of her bright spirit, of her generosity and effervescence. We shall light a candle in her honor tonight, and put her in the middle of our prayer circle. The world is a little less vibrant without the addition of this wonderful spirit in this third dmensional world. But we know she is shining brightly in another dimension, and we are thankful for having the opportunity of sharing the world with her while we were merchants together in Troy.

My daughter met a woman today who told her of your loss / I was shocked and saddened ..I met her at her store in Cohoes and purchased many items from her as did my daughter. Later I traded her lessons for a beautiful mirror I still have. We would meet up again at a coffee shop my daughter owned that was decorated with Nadis's furniture.
We always talked / laughed ..although we didnt meet often I called her a friend / she was always kind / always smiling ..Im so sorry for your great loss ..my prayers are with your family / such a shining star!

Trink, You are missed. The brightness that always surrounded you will carry on in the memory of your kind hearted sweet spirit. You touch everyones heart that you came in contact with and your memory will be embraced by everyone that knew you.

April 20, 2011

My memories of Nadia are associated within the neighborhood and the George Washington School, Brunswick Common School District. When I first met Nadia as a youngster my biggest task was to keep Nadia and her friend's, Natalie's, names straight. Her brother Michael was a classmate of my daughter. I am sorry to say I was not aware of her impressive accomplishments in the art and local business world as I would have liked to have visited her enterprises. It is with sadness that I express my family's and my own sympathy to Michael, Diane, and son Michael and all family and friends. May God bear up Nadia's soul and heal her grieving family.

Nothing will ever be the same again without our dear sweet Nadia. My favorite thing was to take a day trip to Hudson with her. We'd play trivia games on the way. We were surprised when Nadia knew every vice president and the president they served with....not one mistake!!! WOW! When we walked around town Nadia was a celebrity...everybody was happy to see her and find out what she had planned for the future. I'll never be able to go to Hudson again without thinking about her. Somehow we'll try to move forward knowing she's at peace.

Nadia made a room light up - everything about her was positive. She shared with others, forming true connections on many levels through her love of humanity and her belief in helping others reach there full potential. She will be forever missed, however, will reside in forever in our hearts and psyche - guiding all of us to be compassionate, patient, creative and to love unconditionally.

My deepest sympathy to your family and loved ones at this very difficult time. you left this world way too soon...

No matter how busy Nadia was, she always had time for friends. And it didnt matter who you were or where you came from, she was going to figure out where you were headed and help you get there. Busy...always, All business...never. She was an enigma in the antique world as she was never about the money, always about the friendships and her currency seemed to be smiles. I often questioned whether she sold that retro furniture to make a living or just desired a really cool place to spend more time with friends. Seemed that no matter how low on shop inventory she would become at times, there was ALWAYS an inviting funky sofa right in the middle of the showroom floor. That was not a coincidence, it was a necessity, because thats where deals were made. Not behind some stiff counter or desk, just a cool funky sofa. That's the kind of person she was and I'll miss that. Smart, trustworthy and a beautiful person, Nadia, you were truly an inspiration to us all. Thank you for your friendship and sharing some of your short time here on earth. Our loss is certainly heaven's gain and I can only imagine the ideas you have for that place.

Trink's easy smile and depth of presence called upon an aspect of myself I was unaware of as an impressionable high school student that would bop between her furniture store on Remsen and the business my mom and Aunt ran next door. Through Trink's example was one of the ways I was able to identify a passion for life and caring for others.

Trink, thank you for being an example of a free spirit and warm heart in our lives.

Oh, Sister Moon...as in the way of many greats, you've flown away too soon. You've brought so much good to the lives of so many that you must have met your quota ahead of schedule. Your spirit, energy, relatability, style, grace and beauty helped others learn how to make their lives more fulfilling.

"All I know is something like a bird within her sang...all I know she sang a little while and then flew on.
If you hear that same sweet song again
will you know why?...anyone who sings a tune so sweet is passing by..."

Fare you well - she was, she was a friend of mine.

I remember Nadia as an incredibly artistic and energetic person. These qualities radiated from within her soul. She so often shared her amazingly beautiful and infectious smile. Calling her beautiful, special, unique, or a breath of fresh air would all be understatements. May Nadia find the peace in afterlife that semed to evade her here on earth.

Nadia was a frequent visitor to various auctions in East Durham and Coxackie when she opened her shop. She was a glowing angel who light up any room she entered. Her beauty and charm would be difficult to match. Nadia loved the unique and would seek out items that she knew would be hard to find again. Her interests were soooooo very diversified matching her maverick personality and beauty.
