McKenna, Kevin Michael CHICAGO Kevin Michael McKenna lost his battle with pneumonia and related organ failure on September 23, 2012 at the Bowman Hospice Center in Chicago. During his last days, he was surrounded by his loving family and friends, including his dedicated partner, Eric Carlson. Kevin was the son of Mary and Jack McKenna, previously of Voorheesville and Clifton Park, and presently of Griffin, Ga. He also is survived by his brothers, Brian (Heather), Daniel (Holly) and Matthew (Britta), and his sister, Sharon Seim (Kevin), along with six nieces and nephews. Kevin graduated from Voorheesville High School, the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Law School. After serving time in the Peace Corps in Botswana, Africa, he practiced law in Boston, Denver and Chicago. Wherever Kevin went, his friends and colleagues came to know him for a brilliant and inquisitive mind that never lacked for a well-founded opinion, always rooted in doing the "right" thing. A memorial service will be held in Chicago in Kevin's honor on October 7, 2012. Those wishing to honor Kevin are asked to make a donation to "The Trevor Project," an anti-bullying foundation whose mission was important to Kevin. Donations may be made at thetrevorproject.org/onetimegift
