WOODSTOCK, Vt. Abigail Powers Brady, 67, of Woodstock, Vt., died suddenly on Friday, August 29, 2003 while on a cruise from Copenhagen to NYC. She was born in Albany, N.Y. on May 19, 1936 to Josephine Austin Powers and Robert Gerard Powers. She graduated from the College of Saint Rose in Albany with a B.S. in nursing in 1958 and worked in hospitals around the state of New York for several years before marrying Robert Sylvester Brady of Caldwell, N.J. in 1961. They lived in Pound Ridge, N.Y., Stamford, Conn. and Ridgefield, Conn. before settling in Woodstock, Vt. in 1970. Both Gail and her husband were active in local and state organizations for people with mental retardation. Gail worked for many years for the State of Vermont in the Windsor County Courthouse and was appointed Clerk of Court in 1997. She retired in 2001. She is survived by three daughters, Sheila Mary Brady of Brookline, Mass., Maura Brady of Manlius, N.Y. and Jennifer Brady of Peoria, Ill.; a sister and two brothers, Fayne Powers Wakeman of Stone Mountain, Ga., Robert Powers of Albany, N.Y. and James Powers of Williamsville, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Maeve Roche Brady and Eamon Brady Kelley; many nieces and nephews, as well as many good and dear friends. Her husband, Robert Brady, died 1985. In later years, she was a world-traveler, visiting such destinations as Tahiti, Turkey, Morocco, Greece, Tuscany, Provence, Bavaria, the British Isles, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, Vt. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of the Snows Church in Woodstock, Vt.
