Czwakiel, Bert J. CLIFTON PARK Bert J. Czwakiel Sr., 91, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Mary Gardner Czwakiel. He was a graduate of Vincentian Institute, and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Czwakiel retired in 1983 as an electrical designer with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Indian Lake VFW and Knights of Columbus, and the Albany Elks. Bert was an active volunteer in his parish church, and was a lifetime organic vegetable gardner. He was a master rifleman, and was a member of Forbes Rifle Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating and woodworking at his beloved Blue Mountain Lake home. But above all things, Bert cherished his family and spending time with them. He was the husband for 58 years of the late Helen A. Schaeffer Czwakiel; father of Bert J. Czwakiel Jr. (Marge), Mary T. Beller (Robert), Gini Stanwell-Smith (Colin), John C. Czwakiel (Denise) and Paul J. Czwakiel (Sue); grandfather of Aaron, David, Claire, Meghan, Daniel, Mary Catherine, John Paul, Celine, Cedric, Chiara and Noah; great-grandfather of Julien; brother-in-law of Ruth Czwakiel; brother of the late Martin, John, Stanley, Peter, Joseph, Aloysius and James Czwakiel, Eva and Rose Patterson, Clara Czwakiel, Elizabeth Rohrmiller and Mary Moss; many nieces and nephews survive. Funeral services, Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. from McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 10:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Those wishing to remember Bert J.
