Kent, Carolyn V. LOUDONVILLE Carolyn V. Kent, 70, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 as a result of complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Born in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Virginia (Bowen) Kent. Carolyn grew up in Burlington , Vt. and graduated from the Abbott Academy in Andover, Mass. She did her undergraduate work at Wellesley College and received her master's in teaching from Brown University. Carolyn continued her education at Lehigh University where she received her PhD in economics and at Duke University, where she received her law degree. Carolyn enjoyed an extensive professional career which included teaching at Union College, RPI and Northeastern University. She worked as an associate at Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle in Rochester, before moving to Albany to join the NYS Attorney General's Office, Public Finance Bureau. She later worked for the Environmental Facilities Corporation and most recently the NYS Comptroller's Office. Carolyn is survived by numerous cousins and extended family, including Virginia Bowen Lester, of Westwood, Mass. and Col. William K. Megill, of Ottawa, Canada, and many dear friends and devoted caregivers in the Albany area. A memorial service will be held January 11 at 4 p.m., at the Delmar Presbyterian Church, 585 Delaware Ave., Delmar.
