Graber, Charles F. WEST SAND LAKE Charles F. Graber, father of six and grandfather of 17, died at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long struggle with Alzhei mer's on November 17, 2012 He was born on March 31, 1931, the 12th of 13 children of Walter and Catherine Graber of Watervliet. After graduating from Catholic Central High School in 1949, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Siena College. Prior to graduation from college, Chuck attended St. Thomas Seminary in West Hartford, Conn. and served for two years in the Army. He was a career educator, teaching in several area schools and SUNY Albany. He retired from the NY State Education Dept. as bureau chief of Higher Education, Grants Administration. Chuck taught religious education at St. Jude's, St. Henry's, and St. John's - St. Ann's and spent countless hours volunteering in St. John's Center, Albany and for the sports and activities in which his children participated. He and his devoted wife of over 50 years, Karol Clifford Graber, raised their family in West Sand Lake. He is survived by his wife and loving family, son Charles "Chip" Graber and his children Walter, Linnett and Samantha, son Gregory Graber, his wife Quiteen and daughters, Destiny and Jessica, daughter Mary Kay Hayes, her husband Mike and children, Michael, Emmett and Maggie, son Mark Graber, his wife Barbara and children, Benjamin, Helen and Edward, daughter Michelle Bergland, her husband John and children, Carolyn, Catherine and William, and son Matthew Graber, his wife Kathryn and children, Oliver, Annie and Oscar. He is also survived by his ever-dedicated sister, Sister Katherine Graber, RSM, and Mrs. Theresa (William) Houlihan, in addition to in-laws, Mrs. Joan Graber, Mrs. Marge Graber, Donald and Ann Clifford and Maurice (Bud) Clifford. He has many loving nieces and nephews including Carol Wilson, his staunch supporter. His family would like to thank Peter Sennett, Jennifer Morrow and Sheila Rorke and the wondrous supporters at the Hospice of Rensselaer County. In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by siblings Vincent, Sister Mary Anita RSM, Sister Mary Ann RSM, Marie Thomas, Caroline Wilson, Joseph, John, Margaret Treventi, Sister Mary Mercedes RSM, Frances Barachina, Thomas and James. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, November 20 from 4-7 p.m. at Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer. Funeral Mass and Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry's Church in Averill Park.
