David Neville Obituary

Neville, David M. LOUDONVILLE David M. Neville, 74, entered into eternal life on July 12, 2012 in the comfort of his home with the support of his family and friends. Son of George A. and Marie K. (Moss) Neville, Dave is survived by his wife, Concetta (Campo-lungo); son, John (wife Hilary),of Boston; daughter, Deanna (fiance, Mike Cleary) of Albany; brothers, G. Scott (Marty) and Peter S. (Ellen), of Ballston Lake, as well as several nieces and nephews. First and foremost, Dave was a family man who was devoted to his wife of more than 48 years, fervently dedicated to her and their two children. He was a loyal friend and neighbor, often hosting parties and family picnics, organizing golf tournaments and reunions, sharing his extensive collection of R&R music from the 50's. He was a lifelong resident of the Albany area. Raised in the upper New Scotland Avenue area and Loudonville, he was a graduate of Milne High School in 1955, the Junior College of Albany (Sage) in 1961, and State University of New York at Albany in 1963. He also attended RPI, completing graduate course work in management. His work career was Albany-based as well. Dave was manager of employment and labor relations with Winthrop Laboratories from 1968 to 1973, followed by 30 years of service with Farm Family Insurance Companies, from which he retired in 1997 as senior vice president of human resources. He was also active in the Capital Region Human Resource Association serving on its board as well as its president. He was an involved community servant. He coached Colonie girls softball, Colonie Babe Ruth, and Little League teams. He was on the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York, serving as vice chairman of special events. He was on several local high school business advisory committees and served as both a mentor and program instructor. His most active volunteer leadership role was with the Albany Chapter of the American Red Cross. During his association with the Red Cross, he served on its Hypertension Task Force, was a member of its board of directors, vice chairman of the personnel committee, vice chairman of the administrative council, and member of the executive committee. In 1987, he was elected chapter chairman. In addition to providing administrative services, he was an eight-gallon blood donor. In 1990, Dave was the recipient of Farm Family's Outstanding Community Service Award. He was a history buff in every sense, but had special interest in both the Civil War and World War II eras. His passion, however, was his family's genealogy which traced back to the 400s. He was a patriot who loved his country and was proud of his military service in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1955-1961. Dave was many things to many people; he will be missed by all. The family would like to thank all who reached out to Dave during his illness, family and friends; oncologist, Dr. M. Kolodziaj and the staff at NYOH; his primary care physician, Dr. Angel Millora, and the angels from Community Hospice of Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. Following the Mass, his ashes will be entombed in the American Saints Mausoleum, St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, July 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Those wishing to remember Dave in a special way may make a memorial contribution to Loudonville Christian School (Siemen's Scholarship Fund), 374 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211, Mohawk/Hudson Humane Society, or Community Hospice of Albany. Memories and Condolences
for David Neville

Not sure what to say?

Connie,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was an amazing man. I have many fond memories from working with him at Farm Family Insurance. But I think the best was when I was able to deliver those FedEx packages to your home every Christmas. We always had our quick little catch up talks about our families. Lots of laughs and the best hugs. I will miss him dearly. He will be another great guarding angel for many. May God bless you and your family at this most difficult time.

Connie, my heartfelt sympathies on Dave's passing. I have such fond memories of working with him at Farm Family. He was such a supporter and always praised my work and my efforts. I chuckle when I recall his retirement party and the story he told about bringing Jeffrey into the office, and the "antics" Jeffrey got in to. My thoughts are with you and the kids.

Connie, John & Deanna,
No one could ask for a better neighbor. The kindness of Dave is often spoke on my parents lips. My most fond memory was bringing the kids trick-r-treating. Dave always had a good treat and a great smile. He will be forever in our hearts. Praying for you all.

Dear Connie, John and Deanna:

Words cannot express how much my heart is breaking for you. I have always admired Dave. He never had anything bad to say and he was always so happy.
Connie, I cannot tell you how much it meant to our family that you both came to Timmy's wedding. I know how hard it must have been and I will always treasure the time we had.
I often think of those days at your mom and dads as well as at Nana and Grandpa's house. It was truly a special time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
