Cole, Doris J. REXFORD Doris J. (Hatch) Cole, 85, longtime resident of Rexford, N.Y., passed away May 1, 2012. Born in Schenectady N.Y., Doris graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1944, and Syracuse University in 1948 with a bachelor of fine arts degree, interior design major. Her husband and sweetheart, Charles S. Cole, prede ceased her in 1983. Doris was one of three children born to the late Katherine E. (Gass) and Brainard G. Hatch. Her brother, James Hatch of Pennsylvania, predeceased her. Doris' sister, Janet Shear, resides in Colorado. A devoted mother of eight children, grand mother of nine, and great-grand mother of four, Doris loved her large family. She will be greatly missed by her children, Richard (California), Karen (Maine), Dan and his wife Sarah (Rexford), Chuck and his wife Suzie (West Virginia), Bob and his wife Nancy (Schenectady), Kitty and her wife Nancy (New Hampshire), Donna and her husband Wayne (Massachusetts), and Douglas (Massachusetts). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Lizabeth, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Kaylyn, Alex, Emma, Jack, Charles, and William; and her cherished great-grandchildren: Ruby, Elke, Iver, and Zoe. Doris loved being surrounded by her family, sharing stories from her childhood, reminiscing about family trips and holidays. She especially loved the times when her great-grandchildren came to visit. Doris is also survived by a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memory Gardens in Colonie the following day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rexford Fire Department, , Saratoga County Hospice, the AIDS Council of Northeastern NY or the Rexford Methodist Church, Main Street, Rexford, N.Y.
