Mardigan, Dorothy WATERVLIET Dorothy Butler Mardigan, 94, died peacefully at her home, amidst her loving family, on Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late George Mardigan Sr., who died in 1999. A native and lifelong resident of Watervliet, daughter of the late John and Melissa Meuse Butler, she graduated from the Watervliet Public Schools. Devoted to her family, Dorothy was a homemaker and an excellent cook and baker and had compiled her own cookbook. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles and needlework. Her beautifully hand crocheted afghans were a treasured gift. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Watervliet. Her genuine Irish wit made her a delight to be with and her welcoming dinners were superbly prepared and a joy to attend. She is the loving mother of Carol (Bob) Carlson of Watervliet, George (Beverly) Mardigan Jr. of East Greenbush and Deborah (David) Jehnsen of Galena, Ohio; cherished grandmother of Robert (Pat Donahue) Carlson, Jennifer (Dan) Kimber, Craig (Sue) Carlson, Courtney (John) Rees, Nicole (Steve) Swinton, Stacey (Jon) Sterner and Tara Mardigan; great-grandmother of Samantha, Joshua and Joel Kimber, Katherine, Daniel, Maxwell and Jackson Rees, Jack and Will Swinton and Trent and Bryce Sterner; sister of the late Charles (late Eva) Butler and the late William (wife Patricia survives) Butler; aunt of John Mardigian, Denise Cimino, Linda Fettig and John Butler. Funeral from the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Ave., Green Island on Thursday at 9:15 and at Trinity Church in Watervliet at 10 a.m. Interment will be beside her husband, George, in Albany Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
