Edward VanAlstyne Obituary

Van Alstyne, Edward E. Jr. WATERFORD Edward E. Van Alstyne Jr. passed away, July 29, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Edward was born August 19, 1943. He graduated with degrees from Bethlehem Central High School, Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Buffalo. He was predeceased by his beloved father, Edward E. Van Alstyne. Survivors include his loved mother, Phyllis E. Mac Millen; brother, William S.; sister, Joy Van Alstyne and her husband, Joseph DeGiorgis; son, Mark A. Van Alstyne and his wife, Lynn; Edward's son, Hayden S. Van Alstyne; and niece, Sarah VA. DeGiorgis. He enjoyed working outside as a surveyor and training race horses. A graveside service will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, on Wednesday, August 2, at 1 p.m.

Ed was a great and caring man. I would often interact with him at the YMCA in Saratoga and Malta where he could always be seen with a smile on his face. He was a great and pleasant man even up to his final days. I ran into Ed about two months ago at the Y in Malta and he told me about his plight. Even with all that was going on, he was smiling and in good spirits. The world has lost a great person. May you rest in peace my friend.
