Watson, Elsie (Swiderski) TROY Elsie Swiderski Watson of Troy, born to life on April 15, 1915 - born peacefully to eternal life December 20, 2012. Elsie was the daughter of John and Frances Swiderski and the loving wife of the late George Watson. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rena, and was predeceased by her cherished son, George Jr. and by all of her siblings, Charles, John, Sophie, Helen and Julia. Elsie was a long-term communicant of her beloved Sacred Heart Church and for many years was a member of the East Side Seniors which brought great richness to her life. Her favorite activity as she grew old was playing bocce at the Italian Community Center. She immensely enjoyed the game, along with the wonderful company of the seniors, many of whom brought her great joy. We were blessed to have the constant care of loving friend, Georgia Holland and we are most grateful to Dr. Agnes Gelder and all nurses of Van Rensselaer Manor C3 - most especially Lee Hildebrand, Sara Rock, Laurie, Lisa, Canivory and Ellie - consummate caregivers. Gratitude as well to all the aides - especially Romana, Alexa, Brittany, Dina, Max, Michelle and Josh for their wonderful care; also, the staff of the activities department - particularly Beth Litz, Mary and Marcy for the consistently gentle way in which they cared for Elsie. Special thanks as well to Carol Cavanaugh for her never-ending patience and to Howard and Corey who were always there for Mom. Never to be forgotten are the many neighbors on Marcy Avenue who were so kind and wonderful to Elsie - most particularly, her dear friend, Mary O'Brien. Grateful thanks to Dr. Lesley Danskin and the Hospice staff for the extraordinary kindness and calm that they brought to Mom. Rena's underlying gratitude goes to the Lord Himself, for answering her prayer that Mom die peacefully. He took her to Heaven while she did, indeed, sleep peacefully away. The funeral will be on Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave. at Parkview Court, Troy and at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. If desired, donations in Elsie's memory, may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Van Rensselaer Manor, or Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
