Kirkpatrick, Frances E. COLONIE Frances Elizabeth (Cross) Kirkpatrick, age 100, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. She was born on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 1912 and was the daughter of Francis Walter Cross and Elizabeth Ann (Russell) Cross. She spent most of her life in the Albany/ Schen-ectady area and was a graduate of Albany High School. She married the late David L. Kirkpatrick on August 16, 1941 and they shared over 70 years of marriage. They also shared a love of gardening and spent many wonderful years tending their gardens, specializing in raising gladiolas, corn, and strawberries. Fran also enjoyed indoor gardening and for many years was an active member of GIPA (an indoor gardening association) in the Schenectady area. Fran loved music and poetry and was always happy to recite a poem or entertain us by singing an interesting old song. She lived through the Depression and experienced difficult times, but throughout her life she maintained a sunny disposition and was always delighted with simple pleasures. Fran is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Kirkpatrick) Pudney and her husband Jack Pudney of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; her daughter, Sharon Lynn (Kirkpatrick) Hoffman and her husband Lawrence R. Hoffman of Natick, Mass.; her son, David Lloyd Kirkpatrick Jr. of Albany; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Tomczak, spouse of her late son, Francis L. Kirkpatrick of Galway, N.Y. In addition to several nieces and nephews, she leaves her grandchildren, James Larrabee of Richmondville, N.Y., Glenn Larrabee and his wife Susan of East Berne, N.Y., Alison (Hoffman) Malcolm and her husband Sean of Holliston, Mass. and Kimberly Hoffman of Cambridge, Mass. Fran is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Alyssa Larrabee, Carey Larrabee, Paul Larrabee, Rebecca Malcolm and Jonathan Malcolm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
