Holmes, Frances M. ALBANY Frances M. Holmes, age 66, died suddenly January 2, 2013 at Albany Medical Center in Albany. She was born in Rensselaer on January 27, 1946. She attended high school at St John's Academy in Rensselaer and graduated in 1963. Fran then attended AMC Nursing School graduating in 1976. She was a medical support assistant at the V.A. Stratton Medical Center at the time of her death where she worked for approximately 20 years. She enjoyed her work and loved her many co-workers. Daughter of the late William J. Mahar Sr. and Frances M. Mahar; sister of William J. (Beth) Mahar of St Croix, Virgin Islands; mother of Ronald, Marcella, Karen, Elon, Nichele, Lashonda. Fran is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, also many loving family members and a host of special friends. Our Mom was an avid reader who also loved watching home improvement and cooking shows. At any time of the day Mom could be found sitting in her favorite chair with a book on the coffee table, a glass of juice and the remote nearby. Our Mom was an inspiration to us all. She exemplified the true meaning of the word strength. Mom was an outspoken women with a heart of gold, she never met a stranger, she treated everyone she came in contact with as if she had known them a lifetime. Mom, we honor your life and cherish the many years of memories we have of you as the head of our family. Rest peacefully Mom, you will forever live in our hearts. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
