Hartnell, Freeman FEURA BUSH Freeman Hill Hartnell (Fred), 93, passed into eternal rest Sunday June 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. Born in Cheltenham, Md., son of George and Lillian Hartnell, he graduated from RPI with his B.S. in engineering, and graduated from Wharton School of Business with his master's degree. He served his country with honor in World War II in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Corning Glass Works in Corning, N.Y. in 1979, where he worked as an industrial engineer. He was a friendly, gentle man who loved music, books, and the outdoors. In 1955, he married Esther Cowan Frazier, with whom he enjoyed 56 wonderful years, until her passing in 2011. He lived in Horseheads, N.Y. for many years while raising his three daughters, Marianne Hartnell Zimmer, Susan Hartnell Rogers of Syracuse, N.Y., and Lisa Marie Hartnell of Rockville, Md. After retirement, Fred and Esther traveled around the U.S., finally setting in Bradenton, Fla., where they resided for 17 years. They relocated to the Albany area in 2007. Fred and Esther resided in Colonie Manor, then at Good Samaritan Village, where Fred resided at Kenwood Manor Freeman is predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Hartnell Smith and Eleanor Hartnell Gladding and brother, George Hartnell Sr. of Grenada, Miss. Fred is survived by grandchildren, Sarah Zimmer, Eric Zimmer, Mark Zimmer, Cortnie Rogers, and Kristin Rogers; great-granddaughter, Ava Zimmer; and extended family, Tabitha and Jason Purcell and Lauren Zimmer; niece, Joy Richardson of Grenada, Texas; nephew and family, George Hartnell Jr. of Bellingham, Wash. The family wishes to express their gratitude to The Community Hospice, St. Peter's Hospital, St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Kenwood Manor.
