I just heard of Gary's passing, and was shocked. We were both troopers...and friends. He with the VFW in the City, and I worked at the Rochester office. We collaborated on many cases and spoke often. We met and worked on several cases together, and if it meant overnight someplace, for sure I had to get to sleep before him, or stay awake listening to him snore.

I remember one case when the Rochester Squad arrested a bad guy in Rochester, for a murder that occurred many years ago in the 17 precinct (NYC). Gary coordinated that investigation, and when we met in NYC.....but that's another story.

We both retired about the same time, are the same age, and were both Senior Investigators.

I'm sorry now that we never stayed in touch. We talked about a VFW reunion...but it never happened. Time just gets away and after retirement moves at lightning speed.

I never met his family, but please accept my condolences. He was a great cop and a man's man.

Guess I'll have to wait some before that reunion.

It was nice to see Gary again this summer, along with Eric and Kyle at a family function this summer in New York. Always enjoyed his sense of humor, and the times at the camp at the lake. He will truly be missed.

The news of Gary's passing was truly a shock. I am so happy we had a chance to see each other in Delmar this past June and share some happy memories of family reunions and fun times at Helderberg Lake. I will remember him for his love of family, his laugh, and his sense of humor. He was a great cousin and a great human being. My condolences to his children, to Bobbi and John, and to the rest of his family. He will be missed.

I've known Gary since I was in my early twenties and he was a rookie trooper -- just a few years older than I was -- and was renting an apartment from my parents. When I think of him, I smile -- chuckle, even, at some of the memories. I hadn't seen him much in recent years, but always looked forward to possibly bumping into him somewhere. Now I won't. He'll be missed.
