Halbfinger, George P. NISKAYUNA George P. Halbfinger, 65, died suddenly on April 16, 2012. George was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Edward Halbfinger and Sylvia (Schoenfeld) Halbfinger. George earned a PhD in chemical engin-eering, working at KAPL in Niskayuna until his retirement. He did science magic shows at local schools, volunteered at the Boy Scouts and Catholic Charities of Schenectady and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Along with his wife Mary, George enjoyed spending their summers at Galway Lake, taking walks, kayaking, fishing and sailing. George is survived by two sons, Adam T. Halbfinger and Roger A. Halbfinger, both of Glenville; and a brother, Charles Halbfinger of Quincy, Mass. Funeral services for George and his wife Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday April 20 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. East Glenville. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery, Sacandaga Rd., Scotia, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday April 19.
