Audette, George R. SARATOGA SPRINGS George R. Audette, 90, of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Wesley Health Care Center. George was born in Cohoes on July 21, 1922. He was the son of the late Henry and Edith (O'Rourke) Audette. On December 28, 1944, George married Janet Bottum, also of Cohoes. They met at Carlson's Pool when they were in high school (George at LaSalle in Troy and Janet at Cohoes High). Janet passed away on December 8, 1987. During World War II, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy and participated in the invasion of Sicily by piloting a landing craft. After his discharge from the Navy, George returned to his job at Sager-Spuck Supply Co. where he eventually became the vice president of sales. He was also very active in the Catholic War Veterans and was instrumental in starting the Cohoes Little League with that group. He also coached CYO basketball. He moved his family from Cohoes to Glens Falls in 1960, eventually retiring from Sager-Spuck after more than 40 years. In addition to his wife, Janet, George was predeceased by his brother, Charles "Chuck" Audette; his grandson, Rupert Chavez and nieces and nephews, Janice Bottum, Lisa Bottum, Peter Murray, Richard Audette and Tom Gentile. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Audette of Glens Falls, Daniel Audette and his wife, Kristi (Singer) Audette, of Woodstock, Vt., Edward (Ned) Audette and his wife, Lisa (Bianco) Audette, of Gallatin, Tenn. and Michael Audette of Glens Falls. His grandchildren, Tara (McLaughlin) Piazza (Peter) of New Jersey, James Audette of New Jersey, Jennifer Audette of Colorado, Emily Audette of Glens Falls, Christian Douthitt of Washington, Matthew Douthitt of Colorado and Ryan Douthitt of Colorado. His great-grandchildren, Jack and Steven Piazza of New Jersey and Danika, Jadyn and Jamie Audette of New Jersey. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Those who wish may make donations in George's memory to a charity of ones choice.
