Bauer, Graydon B. BALLSTON SPA Graydon B. Bauer, 84, passed into the arms of our Lord on May 27, 2012, with his wife by his side. He had a heart attack in their Ballston Spa home. He was born on December 14, 1927 to William and Veronica (Hannon) Bauer of Irond-equoit, N.Y. He attended Aquinas High School then Rochester Business Institute. He served in the Army during World War II and was discharged March '48. Graydon met the love of his life, Betty Jane, in August '53 and they were married the following year. He worked for Tobin Packing Co. for 42 years and retired in 1993. Graydon's kind nature manifested itself in many volunteer activities including serving on national and local disasters with the American Red Cross. He volunteered with Equinox of Albany, N.Y. for many years. He cooked at the Daily Bread of Melbourne, Fla., while wintering there. He was also active in the BPOE. A lover of music and the arts, he volunteered as an usher at SPAC during his summers in NY for nearly two decades. He was a gentle, thoughtful man who enjoyed spending time with his friends and a game of golf or cards. He was an avid gardener. He was a member of St. Edward's Church in Clifton Park for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Melbourne, Fla., and worshiped at St. Mary's Church in Ballston Spa while in the north. He spent his retirement years between their home in Ballston Spa and Melbourne. Graydon loved to travel and he and Betty Jane spent their retirement traveling the world together on many grand adventures. A man devoted to family, he lived a long and richly rewarding life. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, William Bauer of Goleta, Calif., and his sisters, Rita DeVoldre and Betty Clark both of Rochester, N.Y. Graydon is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty Jane; son, James G. Bauer of Ballston Spa; two daughters, Mary Terese "Traci" Bauer of Malta, and Diann Bauer-Malik and her husband Suhail Malik of Germany; granddaughter, Victoria M. Bauer; grandson, Troy J. Bauer; granddaughter, Rosa B. Malik and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Town of Saratoga. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa.
