Donato, Guerino "Jerry" ROTTERDAM Guerino "Jerry" Donato, 84, at rest Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Jerry was born in Pianopoli, Province of Calabria, Italy, the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria Donato. He came to this country in 1947. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Jerry finished his work career as a Superintendent with U.W. Marx Construction Co. of Troy, N.Y. Jerry's passions in life were building things, winemaking, gardening and spending time with his family. His greatest pastime was enjoying his wife's cooking. Jerry was the beloved husband of 59 years to Eleonora Donato; beloved father of the late Maria Donato, Josephine (Thomas) Vincent, Darlina (Andrew) Barber; loving "Papa" to Christina and Angela Vincent all of Rotterdam; beloved brother of the late Eleonora Fazio, Leonilda Donato Marianna Scelbo and Angelina Gerasia. Jerry is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Friday September 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Saturday 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Rotterdam. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. Contributions in Jerry's name may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Road, Schenectady, N.Y. 12306-1649.
