Palmieri, Harlene Sanders FORT GRATIOT, Mich. Harlene Sanders Palmieri, 84, of Fort Gratiot, formerly of New York, died Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born July 20, 1928 in North Chelmford, Mass., to the late Walter and Ophelia Vasselin Sanders, step-mother Nancy Sanders. Harlene was an executive assistant to the president at Tagsons Paper for more than 30 years retiring in 1994. After her retirement, she enjoyed genealogy research taking her family back to 1066. She volunteered at Faith Evangelical Free Church Vacation Bible School as the registrar. Her grandchildren were her focus as she would travel every weekend across state lines to be a part of their many activities. She is survived by her son, David (Claire) Palmieri of New York; two daughters, Darlene (Russ) Kearney of Elgin, Ill., and Donna (Robert) Lafean of Port Huron, Mich.; six grandchildren, Debra Palmieri, David Palmieri Jr., Christina (Joshua) Smith, Aaron (April) Kearney, Kirsten (Michael) Kearney and Evan (Victoria) Lafean; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Burns and Connie Sieverdin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Roland Sanders. There will be two memorial services, one held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Regency On The Lake Nursing Home, Fort Gratiot, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Max Amstutz officiating, and in May at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 10585 Windham Parkman Road, Garrettsville, Ohio. Burial will be in May in Sandy Hill and Fort Edward Union Cemetery, Ft. Edward.
