Rasmussen, Helen M. TROY Helen Dietz Rasmussen, 78, of Ellyn Lane, died Friday, August 17, 2012 in Community Hospice of Rensselaer County at Samaritan Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She fought with love, dignity and courage. Born in Pleasant-dale, she was the daughter of the late John K. Dietz and Helen Lowell Dietz and wife of the late John J. Rasmussen, who died May 27, 2007. They were married for 45 years. Raised and educated in Wynantskill, she was a graduate of Averill Park Central High School. She worked for Montgomery Ward & Co. in Menands and enjoyed taking care of her home and children, which were a source of deep joy to her. She was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church of Lansingburgh and a former member of the United Methodist Church of Lansingburgh. She was active in the Cornerstone United Women's Group and a past member of the administrative council and committees. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping and crossword puzzles. Survivors include two sons, Timothy John (Melissa) Rasmussen, of Schaghticoke and Jay A. Rasmussen, of East Greenbush; two grandchildren, Kiera, and Karson Rasmussen, who were her pride and joy and gave her endless happiness and love; two sisters, Meta (Al) Thorne, of Troy, and, Phyllis Elliott,of Malta and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 10 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church, 570 Third Ave., Lansingburgh, with Pastor E. Allen Siebold officiating. Burial will following at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
